Bedsheet Business Project
Rabia Shahid
About Rabia’s Vision
Rabia Shahid is seeking to start a small, home-based bedsheet business in Peshawar to generate a stable source of income for her family. With experience selling fabric informally within her community and strong awareness of local demand for cotton bedsheets, her vision is to operate a demand-driven micro-business that allows her to work from home while supporting her household and children’s education.
Her plan focuses on purchasing cotton fabric in small batches based on confirmed customer interest, minimizing excess inventory risk while building a reliable customer base through family, neighbors, and trusted community networks. In the long term, Rabia hopes to grow the business gradually as her family’s financial situation stabilizes.
Project Status
This project is currently under review and remains in the business appraisal stage.
Loan Disbursement: Not yet disbursed
Social Appraisal: Completed and documented
Business Appraisal: In progress, with updated financial projections and repayment capacity under review
Current Focus:
Assessing realistic inventory size and loan amount
Evaluating repayment structure aligned with cash flow
Ajniha is continuing due diligence to determine whether and when the project can move forward in a way that prioritizes both the family’s well-being and responsible lending practices.
The Challenge
Rabia’s loan request arises from significant financial and household strain driven by health and income instability:
Loss of Primary Income: Her household previously relied on her husband’s income from Saudi Arabia, which ended after a serious health incident and visa complications.
Medical & Living Expenses: Ongoing medical costs, combined with basic household expenses and school fees, have depleted savings and increased financial vulnerability.
Limited Capital Access: While Rabia has identified demand and suppliers, she lacks the upfront capital required to purchase inventory and launch the business at scale.
These factors require careful evaluation to ensure that any financial support provided is both responsible and sustainable.
