Empowering education for the underprivileged
About Ruqayya’s Vision
Ruqayya, the principal of Busy Bees School, reached out to Ajniha after being referred by a university professor familiar with our business loan program. The school has been operating independently for seven years, a testament to the founders' dedication.
Until now, they have managed everything from academics to administration without institutional funding, relying solely on personal savings and the support of family and friends.
The Impact
With a student body of 93 children - including 20 fully sponsored orphans - this loan provided the immediate capital needed to stabilize operations. By covering the cost of new UPS batteries and bulk uniforms, the school could keep the lights on and the students clothed, allowing Ruqayya to focus on what she does best: teaching.
The Challenge
Despite their resilience, inflation and infrastructure issues created a critical capital gap:
Energy Crisis: Electricity bills jumped from 6,000 PKR to over 25,000 PKR/month. To make matters worse, the UPS batteries (essential for power during load shedding) were dead, costing 70,000 PKR to replace.
Equipment Failure: The school was running on a single, failing printer from 2019.
Supply Shortages: Uniform suppliers required bulk orders that the school's cash flow couldn't cover.
